Health Plans Manage Medicaid Business with Predictive Modeling Tool

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., May 7, 2007—DST Health Solutions announced that CareSource Management Group, a Medicaid managed care services company based in Dayton, Ohio, and DC Chartered Health Plan, a Washington, D.C.-based Medicaid plan, have both selected the Johns Hopkins University ACG System.

The ACG System is a risk adjustment and predictive modeling tool used by health plans, providers and employers to help understand and predict patient health risk, allowing health plans to intervene earlier to reduce costs and improve quality of care. Plans may also use the ACG System in the underwriting process to more closely match premium to predicted expense. DST Health Solutions has been the exclusive distributor of the ACG System since 1992.

“We were originally interested in ACGs to help us provide more substance to our provider profiles,” said Bob Gladden, vice president of decision support and informatics with CareSource Management Group. “However, as we conducted a thorough review of the product it became clear that the primary use of this product would be the stratification tool for our Aged, Blind and Disabled Medicaid population throughout CareSource.”

The ACG System is helping DC Chartered Health Plan manage its Medicaid risk population, profile providers and identify candidates for care management.
