Global Portfolio System (GPS)
The Global Portfolio System® (GPS®) is a UNIX-based, client/server multi-currency portfolio accounting system that provides accurate transaction processing and portfolio accounting for all commonly traded securities in all international markets. With its extensible rules-based design, GPS supports all transaction and security types and provides the adaptability to add new instruments and transactions as they emerge. GPS is a full-featured accounting solution in which all screens, reports, and interfaces are designed for global institutional asset managers.
Technically, GPS has a three-tiered, highly-layered, client server architecture: a client running on a workstation (typically Windows 95 or NT); business logic process(es) running on a server; and a data repository also running on a server. The client is composed of a graphical user interface (GUI) written in a portable GUI development tool, or a data feed to import data from an external system. These sit on top of an API that provides data checking and validation. The business logic server consists of a transaction server and one or more accounting engines.
The GPS solution, when combined with DST’s OpenProducts, provides a total asset management capability for front, middle, and back office requirements. It is inherently scaleable, and it provides complete flexibility in whatever implementation approach is needed.
