DST is committed to supporting ongoing learning and professional development
for associates. The Center for Education and Development (CED) provides
instructor-led courses and more than 200 online courses to fulfill this
commitment. Courses help associates develop their skills in the following

Information Systems
Training
Information Systems Training (IST) provides education in programming languages,
productivity tools, and efficiency techniques to help DST associates stay
up-to-date in current technology trends. IST, with its staff of experienced
developers and instructors, offers a wide variety of courses tailored
to both application developers and business associates.
IST provides training in the following areas:
- Programming languages — COBOL, DB2/SQL, CICS, EasyTrieve, and
JCL.
- Programmer productivity tools — ISPF, File-Aid, Xpediter, Abend
Aid, Syncsort, Quickstart, DB2 Explain, and Move for DB2, among others.
- Specialized training programs — Ranging in length from nine
weeks to six months that prepare recent information systems graduates
and associates with no previous programming education for entry-level
programmer positions within DST.
- Courses in client-server technologies — Object Oriented Development,
C++, Java, Smalltalk, and GUI Design.
- Non-traditional methods of training — Self-study courses on
videotape, computer-based training, and video conference classes.
